Financial or General Durable Power of Attorney

Financial or General Durable Power of Attorney– This service is typically hired proactively so that clients will have a trusted financial agent to act on their behalf if and when they become unable to make their own financial decisions or pay their bills.

When we act as Financial Power of Attorney it is crucial that we understand all aspects of our client’s advanced care planning wishes. We achieve this through an initial comprehensive assessment. This gives us information about our client’s situation and includes a thorough discussion of our client’s plans and desires for the future.

After this step is complete, we hold biannual face-to-face meetings with our client. This allows us to regularly review our client’s advanced care planning and ensures that we always have the most up-to-date information about our client’s needs.

Should the need arise for us to act as Financial Power of Attorney we are able to:

  • Phone or in-person consultations with the Client, interested persons (generally family members if desired) or other professionals involved in their finances
  • Regular in- person visits with the Client at their residence or other location
  • Coordination with other professionals, to include but not limited to, Court appointed Guardians, agents under Power of Attorney, Trustees, attorneys, accountants, or financial advisors
  • Pay monthly invoices
  • Managing the Client’s financial investments
  • Preparing or working with other professionals to prepare tax returns
  • Researching, arranging or filing claims on the Client’s behalf including, but not limited to, prescription plans, medical insurance, long-term care insurance, transportation services, non-medical care providers, or housing options
